Tin

Old tin country

Malaysia's tin industry built the modern Klang Valley, and Bestari Jaya — formerly Batang Berjuntai — sat at the centre of it. Our concession is former tin ground, and the deposits that made this land valuable a century ago are still in it.

Sand was our original focus. As operations developed, our technical team identified the tin still held in the deposit as worth working in its own right — and the operation was licensed accordingly. Alongside sand, clay and hardcore stone, tin ore — cassiterite — is another mineral drawn from the same ground.

Licensed to mine tin

Tin mining in Malaysia requires specific authorisation, and our site holds both approvals needed to operate: a Proprietary Mining Lease (Lesen Melombong Tuan Punya, PML), and a Mineral Processing License (Lesen Memproses Mineral, MPL).

Holding both means tin is mined legally on ground under our control, under approvals issued in our own name.

How we extract it

Tin is recovered using the gravity concentration method, which relies on tin's higher specific gravity relative to sand. At the tin palong, raw material is separated by size — only particles below 2mm pass through. The concentrate then goes through a series of physical separation stages before being dried and dispatched. The same site operations that handle our sand feed this process.

Tin demand is driven by aerospace, electronics and telecommunications. Modernisation runs on it.
